how angels can help you

Sometimes it feels lonely navigating this world alone, especially during rough seasons. We start questioning everything—Is there really a higher power? Why do innocent people still suffer? But the truth is, as souls, we don’t grow when life is easy. That’s the paradox of being human. To truly know love, we sometimes have to experience the absence of it. And just like light and dark—darkness isn’t a force on its own, it’s simply the lack of light.

What I want you to know is: you’re not navigating this life alone. You have a spirit team.

Through my own lived experiences—meditation, working with mediums, books, podcasts, and countless stories—I’ve learned that we’re guided by a group of higher beings who walk with us throughout our earthly journey.

Who are they?

Whenever I’m expressing my gratitude or calling in assistance—whether it’s for something I’m working on, extra protection, or a situation that needs spiritual reinforcement—I list them out like Daenerys Targaryen reciting her titles:

“I call upon my spirit team—God, my starseed family, light beings, my past loved ones, my main soul guide, my soul group, my angels, my spirit totem animals…”

There are different members of your team you can tap into for different reasons. But I want to share my latest experience with one part of the team I never thought I’d connect deeply with: angels.

Discovering

Growing up Catholic, angels were always just these characters mentioned in the Bible. When I stepped into spirituality, I started questioning everything, including the existence of angels. I didn’t resonate with religion anymore, so I wasn’t sure what to believe.

Then I learned about angel numbers.

Numbers carry specific frequencies—vibrational signatures that communicate energy, intention, and alignment. Angel numbers are one of the simplest ways our spirit team sends us guidance because numbers show up in our physical world so easily. They’re like little nudges from the universe saying, “Hey, pay attention—there’s something here for you.”

My connection with angels deepened when my sister gifted me my first tarot deck: The Angel Deck. It carried me through some of the hardest times. Whenever I work with clients, it’s the deck I feel the strongest bond with because I’ve built an actual relationship with it. I would pull cards, journal what they meant, and then watch the messages unfold days later. There’s something incredibly powerful about witnessing predictions come to life—it’s how my trust in angels slowly grew.

the shift

Backtrack to the spring of this year—everything started with a car accident in the back alley of my neighbourhood. I’ve been in a few accidents before, and one of the ways I learned to calm my anxiety while driving was by getting myself a dashcam. That detail becomes important later.

On May 22, everything shifted for me.

I was driving home from work and came to a full stop at a red light. When it turned green, I began accelerating at a normal, gradual speed. Out of nowhere, a car flew right in front of me—literally a few millimeters from my bumper. This person had completely blown through a red light. Even as I write this, I get emotional. If I had pulled into that intersection just a couple seconds later, I would’ve been t-boned at full speed. They must have been going at least 70 km/hr. I don’t know if I’d be here sharing this story with you.

I pulled over, shaking. My whole body felt like it was buzzing. Once I caught my breath, I opened the dashcam app on my phone to review the footage and sent it to my partner.

He texts me back: “Did you see the angel number?”

The moment he said that, I got full-body goosebumps. I opened the footage again, and there it was—plain as day—in the bottom left corner:

2222.

What 2222 means:

2222 is a powerful sign of divine intervention, protection, and alignment. It usually appears when you’re being guided, guarded, or redirected. This angel number is a message that you’re not alone—your angels are stepping in, balancing the energy around you, and helping you stay on the path you’re meant to walk. It symbolizes stability, safety, and a reminder that you are supported beyond the physical world.

The moment I saw it, everything clicked for me. I genuinely feel like that’s why I got hit earlier in the spring—and why I was guided to get the dashcam in the first place. It was so that the angels could show me what they did. They manipulated the timing, the movement, the energy—everything—to save me. I cried for days after. I knew, without a doubt, that they stepped in and protected me. I was questioning to myself why did they save me, but then later accepted so much unconditional love. They believe in me and my purpose to make the world a better place.

How do angels do this?

Angels work through energy, influence, and timing. They can’t override free will, but they can subtly shift circumstances:

  • They nudge you to slow down or speed up by a second

  • They influence your intuition or instinct to react

  • They alter timing so you miss or avoid danger

  • They rearrange events, delays, or synchronicities to guide you

  • They don’t physically move things like in movies—they work through vibration, intuition, and flow. They guide outcomes by aligning the energetic pathways surrounding you.

How angels differ from the rest of your spirit team:

Your spirit team is made up of different beings, each with their own kinds of power:

Angels

  • Pure high-frequency beings

  • Offer protection, intervention, clarity, and physical safety

  • Their energy is light, direct, immediate

  • They step in during danger or when you’re emotionally fragile

Spirit Guides / Soul Guides

  • Their guidance is more subtle and teaching-oriented

  • They help you learn lessons, not avoid them

  • They don’t usually interfere with life-or-death moments unless it aligns with your soul contract

Starseed Family / Light Beings

  • Support your mission, awakening, spiritual gifts

  • Guide you through intuitive insights, dreams, inner visions

  • They work more multidimensionally, not usually with physical safety

Past Loved Ones

  • Offer comfort, signs, and emotional support

  • Their intervention is emotional and symbolic rather than physical

Totem Animals / Spirit Animals

  • Guide you through instinct, behaviour patterns, symbolism

  • Often appear in nature or dreams as messengers

Angels, specifically, are your “first responders.”

They show up in emergencies, moments of danger, and situations where your life path needs divine protection. Their form of communication is often loud, clear, and immediate—like 2222 appearing right after nearly being hit.

Continuing Ed

I did some deeper research on angels and came across a medium and spiritual teacher named Sonia Choquette. She mentioned her book Ask Your Guides, and even though I buy a lot of things online, I’m really particular about my spiritual books. I like to skim them in person, feel their energy, and wait for that intuitive “yes.” (her youtube is: https://www.youtube.com/@SoniaChoquette)

One day, while I was in Richmond, I stopped by a metaphysical shop in Steveston that I love. To my surprise, Sonia’s book was right there on the shelf—and it was discounted to $12. At that point I didn’t even question it. I felt like the book was calling to me, so I grabbed it.

I started reading it this week and I’m honestly blown away. Her writing is so accessible and engaging—it’s like a manual for connecting with your spirit team, but infused with personal stories from her own journey and her clients’ experiences. I was only three chapters in and already obsessed. I posted it on my Instagram story because I truly feel everyone should read it, regardless of where they’re at in their spiritual path.

The next day, I got a notification: Sonia reposted my mini review on her Instagram.

Such a surreal moment.

Then today, something even more interesting happened.

I was waiting outside of my fitness class because the doors weren’t open yet. So I sat in my car and pulled out the book. I happened to be reading the part where she talks about “the ministry of angels”—how they take joy in offering gifts, bringing surprises, delighting our senses, and easing our path. She also included a chanting exercise to call them in. So, sitting there in my parked car, I closed my eyes, took a breath, and did the chant.

I didn’t think much of it and went about my day. I ran errands with my family, and later that evening met up with my partner. We drove about an hour from home to a thrift store we love because they always have the best deals. I ended up finding a waterproof puffer jacket—the color was perfect, and with all the rain in Vancouver, it felt meant to be.

After shopping, we grabbed food. I ordered pad thai with chicken, but when they served the dish it was missing the protein. I went to let them know, thinking they just forgot it. They told me they never charged me for it, but added, “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.” Not only did they give me the chicken for free—they gave me double the usual serving. I told my partner how nice that was… but internally I wondered, was that a gift from the angels?

Later that night, I got home and took my dog for a walk wearing the thrifted jacket. I slid my hands into the pockets and felt something: coins. When I pulled them out, it was $10 in change. It’s not a huge amount, but the timing made my heart stop for a second.

I called my partner right away and told him everything. I genuinely believe the chant worked—and that throughout the day, the angels were sending me little gifts and gentle signs. Tiny blessings that said: We’re here. We hear you. We’re around you more than you realize.

These small moments—being protected on the road, finding the exact book I needed, receiving unexpected kindness, discovering money in my pocket—may look random on the surface, but I don’t believe they were coincidences. They felt intentional, gentle, and divinely timed. And the more I pay attention, the more I realize how supported we really are.

Angels don’t always show up with grand miracles. Sometimes they speak through synchronicities, little gifts, unexpected help, or a feeling that warms your chest. They communicate in ways that blend into our everyday life—subtle enough to miss, but powerful enough to shift something inside you when you notice.

This whole experience reminded me that we’re never navigating life alone. When we open ourselves to receiving guidance—whether through meditation, signs, numbers, or calling them in—they respond. And sometimes, their messages arrive in the most ordinary yet magical ways.

All we have to do is stay open, pay attention, and trust that even on the hardest days, something greater is quietly walking beside us.
